Photojournalist Lisa Swarbrick began her career when she moved to Barrington, Illinois, from Dublin, Ireland. Lisa received her B.S. in photojournalism from Ohio University. While studing at Ohio University, Lisa had the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, and study the craft in a photographic field-school conducted by National Geographic photographers.
In recent years, Lisa has worked as a staff photographer for the Herald News in Joliet, Illinois, where she photographed assignments ranging from NASCAR to the Western Open.
In addition, Lisa received a B.A. in French from Ohio University and recently returned from living and teaching in Paris, France. While in France, Lisa had the opportunity to photograph daily life abroad. She enjoys finding beauty in the mundane by creating dynamic images of the human spirit.
Lisa continued her education and was conferred with her Masters Degree from the University of Chicago. Recently, Lisa was awarded an honorable mention from the Barrington Area Arts Council for her work in their annual “Urban Edge” exhibit. Furthermore, Lisa has received awards from the Smithsonian Magazine, from International Photo Exhibitions at Ohio University, and has showcased her work further afield.
